Ghanaian striker Majeed Waris scored a stoppage-time equalizer to rescue a point for Nantes as they held Angers to a 1-1 draw in Saturday’s French Ligue 1 encounter.

Angers took the lead courtesy Stephane Bahoken strike after five minutes into the game, benefitting from Flavien Tait’s assist to set his side on the path to victory.

However, in the 89th minute, second-half substitute Waris levelled proceedings for the hosts, profiting from top scorer Emiliano Sala’s assist.

The 27-year-old has made 15 appearances and scored twice so far this term.

Following the result, the Stade Raymond Kopa outfit are 13th in the league log with 16 points from 14 games while Nantes are 10th with 17 points from the same number of matches.

He has previously played for BK Häcken, Spartak Moscow, Valenciennes (loan), Trabzonspor, Lorient and Portuguese giants FC Porto.

In February 2012, Waris was called up to the Ghana squad to face Chile after replacing both injured André and Jordan Ayew.

He came on as a substitute for Richard Mpong as Ghana earned a 1–1 away draw at the PPL Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.

The maverick striker scored the third goal in Ghana's 4–0 in a World Cup Qualifier against Sudan on 24 March 2013 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

He also scored a goal against Egypt when Ghana defeated Egypt 6–1 in Kumasi in the first leg of the final World Cup qualifier.
