Phil Foden has been named the Premier League's Player of the Season following a stunning campaign for Manchester City.

Earlier this month, Foden was shortlisted for the award alongside City team-mate Erling Haaland, Arsenal duo Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, Chelsea's Cole Palmer, Newcastle United's Alexander Isak, Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, and Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk. Now, the 23-year-old has been confirmed as the winner.

The England international said: “To win this award is an achievement that I am extremely proud of. The Premier League is acknowledged as the greatest league in the world, and it is a pleasure to have been nominated with so many other great players who have all enjoyed special seasons for their clubs. Overall, I’ve been very happy with the way I have played this season and really pleased that I have been able to contribute with the goals and assists throughout the season. I’d like to thank all of the City staff, coaches and especially my teammates because without them this wouldn’t be possible. And I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for me as the award means a lot.”

The winger, who can also play as an attacking midfielder, has had his best-ever season for City, scoring 25 goals and bagging 11 assists in all competitions. His performances have put Pep Guardiola's men on the brink of a fourth-straight Premier League title and they are in the final of the FA Cup, too.

Foden will cap off a remarkable individual season when his Premier League title-chasing City host West Ham on Sunday on the last day of the campaign. A win against David Moyes' side will see them pip Arsenal to the title for the second year running.
