Manager Calls for Withdrawal of Decision

Mr Hans Galloway, manager of Philip Kotey, who in the early hours of last Saturday lost in a six round Welterweight contest to Isaac Sowah by a spilt decision has condemned the decision of the judges in that match.

Mr. Galloway described the decision, as day light robbery when he spoke to GNA Sports, claiming that his boxer won the bout. He said, the decision of the judges was bad for Kotey who is making his professional debut and needs to be given the encouragement rather than being subjected to such strange decisions.

Kotey's manager said his boxer fought well and deserved to win the day and wondered why the judges decided to give the fight to Isaac Sowah.

He said, Sowah committed a lot of blunders in the fight, which led to deduction of his points, so it is difficult to understand the decision of the judges.

Mr Galloway expressed bitterness about the whole decision saying, "we have petitioned the Ghana Boxing Association (GBA) and are demanding a reversal of the results in favour of my boxer."

Mr. Galloway said, GBA has requested for the videotape of the match, which he has provided and expressed the confidence that the decision would be reversed in favour of Philip Kotey.
