Weed-smoking hooligans held match officials, security and players hostage at the Paa Kwesi Nduom Park in Elimina Shark's 4-1 hammering of True Democracy in the MTN FA Cup on Sunday afternoon.

The home side had taken a comfortable 3-0 lead from the opening 45 minutes and looked set to whitewash the visitors in the second-half.

But after going ahead 4-1 up on the 85th minutes, away fans who reporters at the venue claim had smoked marijuana while the game was ongoing took control of proceedings attacking security officials on duty causing the game to a standstill for over 25 minutes.

Striker Daniel Obeng struck twice to put Sharks 2-0 ahead before Ben Tweneboah added the third before the end of the first-half.

Isaac Quanoo hammered home the fourth in 56 minutes before the visitors pulled a goal back from the spot.

However visiting fans stormed the pitch and threatened to attack match officials, security personnel and the home players.

But security officials managed to curtail the mess and restored sanity as the last 5 minutes of the game was played.

Former Hearts of Oak goalkeeper James Nanor, who is head coach at Democracy, was hugely involved in restoring calm to the venue.

Sharks have joined eight (8) other clubs who have qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition.

The Ghana FA is expected to take disciplinary actions against Democracy and their fans for their behaviour during the game.
