Maxwell Konadu takes charge of the Black Stars

Stand-in coach Maxwell Konadu will take charge of the Black Stars for the first time on Monday when Ghana open their camp in Casablanca ahead of Saturday’s 2015 Africa Cup of Nations clash against Guinea.

The ex-Kotoko coach has been put in temporary charge of the Black Stars team as the Ghana FA intends to finalize the appointment of a new coach.

But as Ghana faces Guinea in two 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers over the next ten days, Konadu will direct affairs from the bench as the team awaits the appointment of a permanent coach.

With players of the Black Stars expected to arrive in Casablanca from Monday for camping to start, Konadu will be the man in charge of the team.

The assistant coach took interim charge of the team following the dismissal of Kwesi Appiah. Konadu, the former coach of Asante Kotoko served as assistant to Kwesi Appiah during his over two-year reign at the helm of the Black Stars.

Even though the GFA were keen on appointing a new coach ahead of the double matches against Guinea, that could not materialise as the search is still underway.

Even though Konadu has been handed interim charge of the team, they expect to make a substantive appointment in the coming weeks.
