McDan ITF World Tour set for April 29 to May 4

The recently-refurbished tennis courts at the Accra Sports Stadium will be the venue when the fifth edition of the McDan International Tennis Federation (ITF) World tour kicks off on Monday April 29, 2019.

The tournament which is scheduled for April 29 to May 4 will for the first time have participants from 30 countries in Africa and Europe.

Speaking at a ceremony to unveil the tournament, the head of Marketing of the McDan Group revealed that the prize monies for the competition has been increased to $15,000 with the winner pocketing US$2,160.

He acknowledged the challenges that come with staging a tournament of such magnitude but assured tennis players, officials and supporters of their desire to deliver an unforgettable experience. He also added that the McDan Group will continue its supports for tennis.

“Organizing an ITF tournament has been a challenge for the Tennis Federation but through the McDan Foundation we have been able to secure sanction from ITF and we believe in no time we will produce stars from Ghana.

“I sit here today instead of CEO Dr. Daniel McKorley as the Foundation head, to let you know that the Foundation will continue to sponsor more ITF tourney next year.”

The President of the Ghana Tennis Federation Isaac Aboagye Duah applauded the McDan Group of Companies for their role in the growth of the sport.

To him, the forthcoming international tourneys where players will participate for ITF/ATP points and money is welcoming news to the Federation after many years of absence in Ghana.

The assistant Marketing Manager of the Twellium Industries, Emelia Gyasi said that their partnership with McDan has enabled the company to project its products.

“We joined McDan five years ago and we realized it was a good platform for us to project our products. Associating ourselves with the McDan tennis tourney has projected our products in Ghana and beyond.

The tourney has received supports from Twellium Industries, Palace Decor, Interplast Company Limited, Hollard Insurance and FOX Cooling.
