McDan Group of Companies in collaboration with the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) launched the ‘McDan Junior Open’ at a short media ceremony on Wednesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Championship which has been on hold for a decade will give opportunity to Ghana’s future Tennis prospects who fall within the ages of 12 to 16 years to showcase their talents in the sport which many consider to be the discipline which will put the country on the World Map.

The week-long McDan Junior Championship Open which has been scheduled for August 21 to 26 will be held at the Tennis courts inside the Accra Sports Stadium and will feature potential tennis players who have been drawn from the nation’s capital, Accra.

Briefing the media at the outdooring of the Juniors tournament, President of GTF, Isaac Aboagye Duah, was elated McDan Group of Companies have revived the Juniors championship.

“The last time this tournament was held was ten years ago when we the Milo championship, the kids are very excited, it’s going help. It’s come at the right time where players from under 12 are representing the country at the Africa Junior Championship come September, so the McDan Junior Championship is a good platform for the players to polish their rough edges.”

Obodai Sai, Head of Sales at Marketing of McDan Group also reiterated the company’s desire to spearhead the development of tennis in Ghana by hosting tournaments regularly.

The sponsors for this year’s Juniors Tennis Open are McDan Group, Trillium Ghana Ltd, Nationwide Mutual Health Insurance and AfWest Security.
