McDon ready to pay GBA GH¢17,000

Boxing Promoter McDon Atsitsogbe says he is ready to pay a paltry sum of Ghc17,000 to the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) after the latter was accused of issuing dud cheques to the GBA.

The Board of Directors of the Ghana Boxing Authority ordered the Ghana Police Service to arrest the boxing promoter, McDon, for his failure to clear his outstanding debts after he promoted the Fist of Fury bout at the Accra Sports Stadium in December 2014.

Reports say efforts by the Ghana Boxing Authority to retrieve the said amount have proven futile as the boxing promoter is on the run.

But a livid McDon Atsitsogbe denied issuing fake cheques to the umbrella body of boxing in the country, adding he made a mistake on the cheque causing its rejection at the bank.

“I have never issued a fake cheque to the GBA, I have paid a lot of money to the GBA for the promotion of this fight and other fights these are the same people that I deal with, so why will I issue fake cheque to them.

“Is rather unfortunate this has happened because it was just a simple mistake I did on the cheque, McDon told e.TV sports.
