Medeama head coach Samuel Boadu has said that his team is ready in case they have to compete in Africa this 2018/19 season.
The Ghana premier league season was disturbed following the Anas expose but the Yellow and Mauves finished the first round on top of the league standings jointly with Ashanti Gold S.C but Medeama played a game less.
The FIFA normalisation committee for the Ghana Football Association last week met with some Ghana club owners and decided to prohibit Ghanaian clubs from participating in Africa this season following the Tiger Eye Pi corruption expose into Ghana football but Asante Kotoko and Medeama want to go to participate.
“We feel we hold a certain level of legitimacy to represent Ghana in Africa . We will petition the Normalisation Committee by close of today because we believe we are more than qualified to represent the country in Africa” Medeama spokesperson Patrick Akoto said.
“We hope to get a favorable response from Normalisation Committee. The position of every team in the league as at the time it was truncated is a true reflection of their performance.
“As a club we are very clear in our mind that it won’t take the Normalisation Commitee even 5 minutes to confirm to CAF that Medeama will be representing Ghana in Africa” Akoto added.
” We hope to get a favorable response from the Normalisation Committee. If Medeama is not allowed to go to Africa, the issue will end up in the supreme court” He warned.
Moreover coach Samuel Boadu says his team is in good shape to do well in Africa.
“Since the Anas expose I have been training my team. We are still training. We didn’t break camp. We knew due to what happened we could play in Africa based on our position on the league table.” Samuel Boadu said.
“At Medeama we don’t have problem be it financially or in terms of preparations. There are no problems at all. We have a good team that we won’t disgrace the people of Ghana” he added.
Meanwhile the normalisation committee is yet to respond officially to the request of both Asante Kotoko and Medeama to be entered into Africa as Ghana’s representatives for the 2018/18 CAF inter-club competitions which start next month.
