Meeting to evaluate Ghana's performance in Athens

Accra, Sept 28, GNA - Intellectuals in sports on Saturday met at the Winneba Sports College to deliberate on Ghana's inability to win laurels at the just ended Olympic Games in Athens.

The meeting, which was at the instance of the National Sports Council (NSC) discussed topics like, the history of sports administration in Ghana, causes of success at the various Olympic events and the way forward for wining medals at the 2008 Olympics scheduled for China.

A statement signed by Dr. Pufaa, Board Chairman of the NSC, said the meeting in phases was to afford the delegates enough time to brainstorm on the issues.

It said a proposal was developed after the deliberations to be presented to the sports authorities soon for implementation to help raise Ghana's performance to ensure that the nation wins medals in Beijing.
