Dutch player of Ghanaian descent, Memphis Depay, disclosed plans to support Kumasi Asante Kotoko when he visited the team's training ground on December 26, 2024.
He noted their training pitch and facilities are not in good condition and that directly impacts their performance on the field.
The former Manchester United forward added that he is making plans to provide them with a standard training pitch that will facilitate the team’s performance.
“You guys train on these types of pitches, I respect that, it's not easy. The ball bounces too much, so it takes too much time sometimes to control.
"But how can we resolve it? I'm brainstorming with everybody behind the scenes now that I've shown my face here, and try to do my best to make things change,” he said.
Depay also announced that he is in talks with the hierarchy of his current team in Brazil, Corinthians, to play a friendly match with Kotoko to give the players exposure and experience.
“I am trying to arrange something for the team to maybe play a friendly game against my team in Brazil [Corinthians]. I'll discuss it with the coach. It's in the plan.
"So let's hope we can make it happen so that you guys also can showcase your talent in these friendly games,” he added.
