Mensah: I’m prepared for any role for Ghana

Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah has said he is prepared to play in any position Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah places him.

Mensah had a successful season in France as one of the key men for Evian coach Pascal Dupraz as they escaped relegation on the final day of the Ligue 1.

“I just had my best year in France, it will help me a lot in the World Cup in Brazil,” Mensah told Le Dauphine. “I am here and ready to play any position in any position the Black Stars coach offers me.”

The former Ashantigold and Free State Stars central defender also spoke about the last World Cup in South Africa, particularly the Ghana-Uruguay quarter-finals game.

“I was really hurt after that game. It really touched me because we wanted to go further than that. We had done everything. The South African public supported us as we were the last African nation in contention.”

He added: “In Ghana, everyone was satisfied with our games. We went out with pride, but the first two weeks, it was hard to forget.”

Mensah remains one of the key players Ghana could count on at the rear at the global football fiesta.
