Ghana and Evian defender Jonathan Mensah has emerged as a target for English Premier League side West Ham United.
Africa Football Shop sources reveal that Mensah, 24, is on Hammers boss Sam Allardyce’s list of possible replacements should they decide to cash in on New Zealand defender Winston Reid.
Mensah joined Italian side Udinese from Free State Stars before spending time on loan at Spanish side Granada. The former Ashanti Gold stopper joined his present employers Evian Thonon Gaillard in 2011 after impressing at the World Cup in South Africa.
The tough-tackling defender, currently valued at £2 million, would be joining fellow countrymen Christian Atsu and Jeffrey Schlupp in the Premier League if the deal materialises.
Mensah is part of Avram Grant’s Ghana side taking part in the Africa Cup of Nations. With 33 international caps, Mensah is expected to marshal the Black Stars defence in Equatorial Guinea.
