Jonathan Mensah, Black Stars central defender has said, though he has recovered and ready for battle, the final decision will rest on the laps of coach Kwesi Appiah, as they take on Tunisia on Monday, July 8, at Ismailia Stadium in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

According to him, he had worked hard to recover from the injury that kept him out of Ghana’s win over Guinea-Bissau and was ready to give his all to the team in a bid to secure a quarter final berth and possibly win the ultimate.

“Currently I feel very good after my injury and I am better, but I leave my selection for the head coach and medical team to decide, though I am also in constant communication with the medical team about how I feel and how I am progressing.”

The United States of America (USA) based player said, “it is a 1/16th game and it is going to be an interesting one, both teams would go all out but we have to do our best to progress to the next stage.

“Being favourites doesn’t mean all is going to be fine with you, you have to work hard to achieve that, and we are determined to go all out till the final whistle to get a win for mother Ghana.

“We have all seen the surprises in this tournament, so we don’t need to underrate any team, just go out there with everything we have got and seek victory as we aim to get to the final,” he added.

Mensah came on for John Boye after he was sent off the first group game and put up an impressive performance but had to sit out for Ghana’s last group game due to injury.
