The winger is looking forward to a positive challenge following his first invitation for senior national duty
Inter Allies youngster Evans Mensah is expecting more pressure to perform at club level following his recent call-up to the Black Stars.
Thee 19-year-old received a late invitation for the Black Stars’ 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header with Mozambique, taking the place of injured Chicago Fire winger David Accam.
The Eleven-Is-To-One attacker was, however, unused in both matches.
“I’m going to my club to do what I do in matches because it’s through those matches that I got the opportunity to the Black Stars,” Mensah told TV3.
“[I have to] respect my colleagues and coaches if I go back to my team so that at the end of the day, they get positive things to [say] about me.
‘From now, I need to work very hard because they will be expecting a lot from me.
“I need to keep working extra for myself and my team.”
Mensah has been one of the most exciting players in the Ghana Premier League, having been adjudged best player in all three of Inter Allies’ home matches.
He is expected to be in action when the Tema-based side take on Ebusua Dwarfs on matchday six of the local topflight during the weekend.
Ghana beat Mozambique 3-1 in Accra on Thursday before settling for a goalless stalemate in Maputo three days later.
