Mfanstipim JHS lifts Milo Junior Ball Championship

Mfantsipim Junior High School (JHS) produced an excellent performance to lift the 2012 Central Region Milo Junior Ball Championship after thrashing sworn rivals and defending champions, Catholic Jubilee JHS 20-12 in the finals of the basketball competition.

The competition, which was characterized by the ingredients of quality basketball game, saw Jubilee JHS also beat George Ekem Ferguson JHS in the opening game by a narrow score of 30-31, with inspiration from captain Daniel Owusu and Issac Owusu, and proceeded to the quarter finals where they had an easy ride over William De-Graft JHS to secured their ticket for the finals after also defeating Philip Quarcoo JHS in a close contest in the semi finals.

It was sweet revenge for Mfanstipim who lost their second group game against the defending champions but fought tirelessly to win the epic finals in an enthralling fashion with an amazing attitude that surprised thousands of fans at the Jubilee Basketball court at the Victoria Park in Cape Coast.

The two finalists have thus booked their place in the national championship in Accra slated for April 13, whilst last year’s finalist, Anglican Junior High could only manage a third place position after beating George Ekem Ferguson JHS 31-23 in the third place game.

In addition to the excitement that came with the competition, fans were treated with Choreography competition, with Wesley Girls JHS winning the first position, whilst St Monica JHS and William De-Graft JHS came second and third respectively.

In the Rap Competition, Moses Arthur of George Ekem Ferguson JHS won the ultimate prize.

The 2012 Milo Junior Ball is under the sponsorship of Nestle Ghana and powered by Rite Multimedia - leaders in basketball development and promotion in Ghana.

The Greater Accra Region will have its turn for the Regional qualifiers on Mach 19, with over 20 Schools confirming their participation.
