Accra, Feb. 22, GNA-Supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club have been called upon to display a high sense of discipline so that the club would regain its former glory as one of the strongest clubs on the African continent.

Mr Wilberforce Kwadwo Mfum, a Member of the Board of Directors of the club made the call at the inauguration of the Teshie-Nungua Circle 142 Supporters Union of Asante Kotoko in Accra on Saturday.

Mr Mfum, a former player of the club and the national team the Black Stars said discipline plays a very important role in all spheres of life and this must therefore not be shelved.

He said any association or a club couldn't succeed if its members do not instill in themselves a sense of discipline worthy of emulation. Mr Mfum praised the supporters for their unflinching support which enabled Kotoko to win the 2003 Kinarpharma Premier League and placing second in the just-ended Coca Cola Top Four competition while realizing an amount of one billion cedis from the competition.

The former Kotoko player announced to the supporters that the new management Board, chaired by Mr P.V. Obeng would build a modern stadium for the club before it leaves office in 2007.

Mr Mfum asked the circles to hold constant dialogue with the Board so that issues affecting them and the club can be adequately addressed. Mr K. Opoku-Agyemang, Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Circles called on the association to unite and forge a common goal for the success of the club.

Mr Michael Cofie, Chairman of the newly inaugurated Circle said the union, which started with few members, could now boast of about 200 registered and fully paid members.

He said the union would do everything possible to ensure that they attract more members unto their fold to ensure massive for the club. The Union later donated assorted drinks and beverages to the club.
