Michael Essien facing uncertain future at Persib Bandung

Former Chelsea star Michael Essien is recuperating in London amid widespread rumours he will not return to Indonesia to continue his club career with Persib Bandung.

The 35-year-old has not returned to the Asian country after the end of last season.

The former Real Madrid and AC Milan midfieder is pursuing an individual rehabilitation in London for the past two weeks without clarity when he will return to Indonesia.

"We expect new on the part of Essien, argues the Argentine technician, Mario Gomes.

The latest situation has fuel further reports that the Ghanaian may not be interested in renewing his contract with Bandung after helping them to finish 13th last term.

Essien, who is being tracked by Major Soccer League sides D.C United and FC Dallas, joined the ambitious Indonesian side as designated player last year but rumours of not returning to the Asian side is raving.

It's been widely speculated that both parties are unwilling to continue their co-operation.

The former Panathinaikos midfielder scored five goals in 29 appearances for the side last season.
