Michael Tawiah presses case to Levski Sofia

Ghanaian Michael Tawiah hopes his performances on loan for Kaliakra Kavarna in the Bulgarian top flight will convince parent club Levski Sofia to give him more playing time when he returns at the end of the current campaign.

Tawiah left the country having only played Third Division football with Tema-based side Ambah FC, signing for Lokomotiv Mezdra in Bulgaria’s top flight league at the beginning of the 2009/10 season.

10 appearances and one goal in the first half of the season and subsequent awarding as Mezdra’s best player caught the attention of Bulgarian giants Levski Sofia who snatched the young forward in the 2010 January transfer window on a two and half years contract.

But the now 20 year old Tawiah found it difficult to break into the Sofia team necessitating the switch to Kaliakra Kavarna in the January transfer window.

The Ghanaian youngster is however enjoying his new lease of life and has already played more matches in the league for Kavarna than during all of his time with Levski Sofia.

The crowning moment came last week when he netted the only goal to propel relegation battling Kavarna to an away win over Chernomorets Burga and push his side out of the drop zone. Now, a return to Levski next season and a regular playing time is all that is on the mind of Michael Tawiah.

“Everyone wants to move forward and Levski is a far bigger club than Mezdra and I don’t regret joining them even though I’ve not played much. I am happy for the good time I’m having here in Kavarna but I hope things will get better next season when I go back to Sofia,” he told All Sports from Bulgaria.
