Milo marathon fixed for Sept. 21

THIS year?s Accra Milo marathon which comes off on Saturday, September 21, promises to be keenly contested as prizes have been beefed up tremendously, courtesy KLM.

The winners of this year?s event in both men and ladies divisions will be sponsored by KLM to participate in the Amsterdam marathon in November later this year, while Nestle Ghana, the sponsors, will give them $1000 each as spending money, plus Milo products, Milo promotional items and trophies for keeps.

The winners of the U-15 (boys and girls) will also receive ?600,000 school bursary, Milo products and KLM promotional materials and trophies for keeps. Again the two winners will also win multi-media computers for their schools.

The annual Milo marathon, which began 16 years ago, has produced competent runners some of whom have won the title more than once. They include Alfred Adongo, Emmanuel Amo, Stephen Manu, Alhaji Alhassan, Richard Nifah, Hagack Gideon and Alfred Amegashie, (the pioneer of all the winners). Gifty Abankwa and Gifty Koomson are two ladies who have excelled in the mass sport category. Meanwhile registration is underway.
