Minister Congratulates Satellites, Management, Technical Team

The Ministry of Youth & Sports, on behalf of the Government and the entire people of Ghana wishes to congratulate the players; technical team and management of the National U-20 team, the Black Satellites for their great achievement in winning the ultimate, the World U-20 Cup in this year's tournament held in Egypt.

Your achievement will go down in the history of Ghana and Africa as the team that won this prestigious trophy by beating no other team than the mighty Brazil in the finals of a tournament which was tension-packed, competitive and exciting.

By this achievement, you have exhibited the Ghanaian "can do spirit" and proved beyond doubt that with determination and self-confidence success is within our reach.

Ghanaians watched your matches from the group stage of the tournament with great interest and expectation and noticed with admiration your determination to sacrifice to win the ultimate prize at stake, that is the trophy. A remarkable thing about this achievement is that, Ghana has once again chalked another first in Africa.

By winning this trophy, Ghana has become the first country on the Africa continent to beat all in the World U-20 Tournament, often held in high esteem among soccer loving people the world over.

Your shinning example is a clear indication of the fact that the 2010 World Cup can be won by any African team, particularly the Senior National Soccer Team, the Black Stars who were the first on the continent to qualify for the World Cup fiesta due to take place in South Africa.

Let me take this opportunity to reiterate the appreciation and thanks of His Excellency, the President to all Ghanaians and Africans for their great support and continuous prayers for the team during the entire period of the tournament. It is the expectation of His Excellency that the spirit of unity and oneness exhibited by Ghanaians in their support for the Satellites in this Championship shall remain with us and shall reflect in our efforts at achieving a better Ghana for the nation.

Thank you all, "Ayekoo, Akpe, Nii Tuma".
