Minister Visits Propose Site For Regional Sports Stadium In Ho

The minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Clement Kofi Humado paid a courtesy call to the Volta region to meet, interact and visit the land owners of the propose site for the Regional multipurpose Stadium that is to be built at Ho. The minister in his speech reechoed the promise made by the president of the nation in providing a befitting sports complex in the region. He thanked the land owners for willingly releasing the land to the government for the construction of the stadia. The ministers also commended the Ho municipal Assembly and the constituted Land and Valuation committee for the preliminary work done in the acquisition of the land. He furthermore said the delay in the commencement of the project was due to the inability to get the legal acquisition documents of the land. The propose land is located on the Ho-Aflao road and covers 50 acres of land.

The land owners however appeal to the government to relocate or compensate them adequately before the construction begins as they will be rendered homeless if that is not done. They also stated that, this was not the first time those families release their properties to the government which compensation was not paid them, but the minister promise it will not be the case this time as all efforts are being made to solve that situation.

Mr Worlanyo Aggra, the Director General of the National Sports Authority also reaffirm the words of the minister and urge all stakeholders’ to help in the development of the game in the region as it is a key priority of the authority to help government bring a new stadium to Volta. According to Mr Aggra, the Ho Sports Stadium will see re-grassing, construction of drains and the resurrection of the fallen fence walls while currently ongoing in Kpando is the construction of dressing rooms for the clubs. The Volta region also acquired 3 multipurpose courts in Hohoe, Anfoega and Anloga. Mr Aggra however tasked the technical committee to provide the estimate cost to the National Sports Authority for the immediate implementation of all those projects. The Ho Municipal Chief Executive Mr Isaac Kotobisah, promise that the local land and valuation committee will do all it takes to set the grounds right for the commencement of the project.
