The Ministry of Youth and Sports has expressed gratitude to the Nduom Groupe of Companies for donating $32,000 to the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil next month.

An amount of $22,000 of the donation is to cater for the accommodation of the athletes and the remaining $10,000 cash is the Groupe's contribution towards Ghana’s campaign at the quadrennial competition.

A statement signed by the Head of Public Relations of the Sports Ministry, Otor Plahar, and copied to GNA Sports said ‘‘the Ministry has noted with gratitude the timely response by the Groupe in relation to its appeal to individuals and corporate institutions to support Team Ghana."

The Ministry called on other corporate entities to emulate the gesture and support Ghana’s participation at the event.

It said ‘‘while we gratefully acknowledge this act of magnanimity by the Nduom Groupe of Companies, we wish to take the opportunity to equally appeal to other corporate institutions to emulate this kind gesture by the Groupe, to ensure Team Ghana’s successful participation in the 2016 Rio Olympic Games’’.
