The Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Medical Directorate of the National Sports Authority will on Wednesday, May 11, organize a training workshop on First Aid in Sports and Emergency Medical Response.
The one-day event, which forms part of activities to commemorate the 11th anniversary of the May 9 Stadium Disaster, will be held at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.
A statement issued and signed by Akwasi Sarpong, Head of Public Relations at the Ministry, copied to GNA Sports on Monday, said the workshop will be heralded by a wreath laying ceremony at the main entrance of the Accra Sports Stadium by the Minister, Clement Kofi Humado.
After the workshop, there will be a football match between two national teams at the same venue.
The Ministry is therefore calling on bereaved families, the Supporters Union and the general public to come in their numbers to support and ensure the occasion becomes a success.
Over 100 fans lost their lives with scores injured during a Premier League match involving Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium on May 9, 2001.**
