Minority worried about constant changing of coaches

Tamale, Nov. 11, GNA - Mr Abuga Pele, Minority Spokesman on Education, Youth and Sports on Thursday expressed concern about the constant change of coaches for the National Team and advised the Football Authorities to ensure that the new coach they engage does not abscond with the nations' money.

Mr Pele who is also the incumbent Member of Parliament for the Chiana/Paga constituency in the Upper East region was speaking to the then, many of whom end in disaster, the FA, headed by Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe should try to do its home work well to ensure that the newly found coach will work in a free atmosphere and not impeded in any way".

He said the relationship between the FA, GHALCA and the Ministry requires a good atmosphere for it to function properly and that there was the need for the required resources made available smoothly.

Mr Pele advised the FA and the Ministry to ensure that the contract for the new coach is clearly defined, the role of each authority made clear and also to ensure that adequate steps are taken to ensure that any future coach does not abandon the team midstream with money unaccounted for.

The Minority Spokesman indicated that the burden of securing a competent coach for the nation has not been the lack of coaching but rather "The incompetence of the FA", adding that if Ghana wants to secure a place in the next World Cup then the FA and the Ministry have to sit up and do their home work properly.

He said it was also important that in future competent people are appointed to head the FA, "If not, Ghana would never make a head way with Dr Tamakloe even if the coach were to be a genius" He said the constant changing of coaches was affecting the performance of the national team because there is lack of constancy and long term planning as such the situation eventually cause a lot of financial loss to the state.
