Ghanaian football legend Mohammed ‘Polo’ Ahmed has shown support for under fire Great Olympics head coach Godwin Attram saying the quality of players he has at his disposal are not up to the premier league standard.
Premier league newcomers Great Olympics are the only team in the league yet to register a league win this season, having suffered three defeats and two draws in the five matches they’ve played.
Ahead of the Accra derby between Olympics and Hearts of Oak which makes its return to the premier league this weekend, the former Hearts of Oak head coach Polo says he is anticipating an interesting encounter and expects both teams to raise their games especially after their respective disappointments in the previous game week.
“I think they have a problem with the quality of players. They are new and are now gelling as a group. So let’s hope with the Hearts of Oak game they will see what to do. This is because if they are able to do something with the Hearts of Oak game it can bring them up, but the problem is that Hearts will also not allow that to happen.
That will make the game very interesting because they [Olympics] will like to start with Hearts of Oak, and Hearts will also not allow that because they also just lost their last match,” he said.
Polo however tipped Hearts to win the encounter claiming they had the upper hand in the quality of personnel on the pitch.
“On paper I think Heart is ahead of Olympics, but in rivalries like this anything can happen,” he added.
Great Olympics find themselves rock bottom of the league standings with just two points and have already been touted as relegation favourites by some football experts.
