Former Ghana international Mohammed Ahmed Polo believes Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi has done his bit for the development of football in the country.

Nyantakyi, who has been at the helm of the nation's football governing affairs since 2005, announced his decision to vacate the seat when his tenure expires in 2019.

And according to Mohammed Polo, the decision by the 49-year-old astute lawyer has done sufficiently for the growth of the game.

Polo who played for Hearts and was a key member of the Black Stars team in the 70s says Nyantakyi's reign has been successful.

“Nyantakyi has done his best and played his part for Ghana football, you cannot do everything in this world.

“What he has done, he should leave it for posterity to judge and if someone can come later and equal his feat that would be fine, then we move forward." He said.

He added, “It would not only be bad for one person to be in helm of affairs for things to get bad. He should leave for us to see who would come and equal his record."
