Ghana defender, Mohammed Salisu played the full match as AS Monaco secured a 2-1 victory over Montpellier in a French Ligue 1 clash at Stade Louis II on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Montpellier took the lead in the 16th minute when Congolese midfielder Rabby Nzingoula scored with an assist from Akor Adams.
However, Monaco responded in the 32nd minute when Folarin Balogun, assisted by Breel Embolo, netted the equalizer, bringing the first half to a 1-1 draw.
Monaco dominated the second half and eventually found the winner in stoppage time, courtesy of substitute Lamine Camara.
Montpellier finished the match with 10 men after Tanguy Coulibaly was sent off late in the game.
Salisu was named the best performer on the pitch, completing 74 out of 87 passes, the most by any player.
He also made the highest number of successful tackles (five out of six) and won seven out of nine ground duels, along with five out of five aerial duels.
The former Southampton defender has made five appearances for Monaco across all competitions this season and is expected to be included in Ghana's Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan next month.
