Mortein boxing wiz-kid wants manager

Accra, Jan 22, GNA - Martin Ahaideke, the boxing wiz kid who has become the toast of lovers of the sport for recording two knockouts in two weight divisions in the Mortein Professional Boxing League said on Thursday that he was looking for a manager to oversee his development. Speaking to the GNA Sports, the 18 year- old boxer who fights from the Attoh Quarshie Gym said though he was determined to reach the very top in his chosen profession, he was encountering difficulties, as he has no manager to assist him in his development.

He said, he sees himself as a potential world champion and assured his would-be managers that he would live up to expectation and ensure that their investments yield dividends.

"I know I can be a great boxer but at the moment I don't have anybody to manage my affairs and assist me with the little, little things that can make me concentrate on the sport I love so much in order to achieve my aim," the boxer said.

Ahiadeke said he believes in discipline because without that, a boxer could not attain his potentials and promised to train very hard and keep away from things, which are detrimental to boxing and be loyal to his manager.

"I shall remain loyal to the person who supports me from my present level to stardom and to eliminate any fears from my would-be managers, I shall be willing to sign a contract."

Ahiadeke stopped his opponent in the first round in a super bantam duel in his debut at the Mortein Professional League and returned a month later to record a second round knockout over a heavier opponent in the super featherweight division.

He said he agreed to contest in the heavier division because "I know the damage my right hand can do and I trust it will help me to achieve my dream," he said.

The young boxers praised Napoleon Tagoe, founder of the Willpower Boxing Street Academy for giving him the opportunity to start boxing and teaching him the rudiments of the pugilistic trade.
