The "most important" thing in football is to win according to Local Black Stars coach, Maxwell Konadu.

Ghana came from a goal down to beat Cote d'Ivoire 2-1 in Kumasi on Sunday in the Rwanda 2016 CHAN qualifier with an unconvincing performance.

Two goals in the dying embers of each half from Asokwah Deportivo striker Joel Fameyeh ensured the Local Black Stars travel to Abidjan for the second leg with a goal advantage after going behind through Sangare Ibrahim's opener.

But Maxwell Konadu says the most important thing in football to win.

"We did the most important thing in football and that is winning the match," the Black Stars assistant coach told the press after the game.

"We wanted to score a couple of goals but it didn't work out, but well, now that the ball is in their (Cote d'Ivoire's) court, they would try to beat us, but that is not what we are thinking of now."

Maxwell Konadu also blamed the pitch at the Baba Yara as one of the reasons the team could not play their normal game to get the required result for a bigger advantage ahead of the second leg in a fortnight.

"The pitch too wasn't in the best of conditions for us to play our normal game that all of know Ghanaian to be noted for."

The winner of the two legged tie will qualify for the CHAN tournament - a competition for only home-based players scheduled for Rwanda in 2016.
