Veteran sports journalist, Kwabena Yeboah, has chosen Asamoah Gyan over Tony Yeboah as the better player between the two former Black Stars strikers.

Kwabena Yeboah was asked to choose between the two in a 'this or that' challenge with 3Sports.

He settled on Gyan, basing his choice on the two players' contributions to the Black Stars, although he admitted that it was a difficult pair to choose from.

"This is a huge test, and I think one answer will not suffice. They played in different generations and in different leagues. At the national level, Asamoah Gyan scored more goals. The number of goals he scored on the World stage is unmatched by any player in Ghana or Africa. So, if you want to go by statistics and the level at which they played, it's going to be difficult for anybody to choose someone other than Asamoah Gyan. So definitely, Asamoah Gyan."

Tony Yeboah is regarded as one of Ghana's greatest-ever centre-forwards. He had a notable club career, including becoming the first black player to win top scorer in the German Bundesliga.

Regarding his international career, he scored 29 goals during his 12-year stint with the Black Stars.

Asamoah Gyan, on the other hand, is notable for his achievements with the national team, having had a relatively average club career.

He holds the record for Africa's top scorer at the World Cup with 6 goals. He is also Ghana's all-time top scorer with 51 goals.
