Champions League final-bound coach Jose Mourinho could have been hired as a tactical adviser to Ghana at the World Cup 2010 if Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac had not objected to it.

Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi disclosed that Mourinho was the agenda item of one of their meetings after “someone” mooted that idea to them.

He told 'Vodafone Sports Cafe' on Metro TV: “Someone told me about this about three or four months ago and we had a meeting at the GFA to discuss the issue.

“After the meeting we advised the person who broached the issue that we could only take such a step if the Black Stars’ coach recommended it.

“After speaking to the coach [Milovan Rajevac] he told us that it was not necessary.”

The news about the 'Special One''s decision to join the Black Stars in South Africa for a fee of $1 million broke last week, but the FA dismissed it as “untrue and baseless” and “should be disregarded”.

The Inter coach has himself denied the report in a terse statement to the Ghana FA website, ghanafa.org.
