Returnee Black Stars midfielder Mubarak Wakaso says he was impressed with the total performance of the team in the final FIFA World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Sunday in Cape Coast.
Wakaso lasted the entire duration as the Black Stars of Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw by Egypt. Mahmoud “Shikabala” AbdelRazak opened the scoring for Egypt before Edwin Gyasi cancelled out the lead.
The Deportivo Alaves midfielder was invited to the Black Stars team for the first since the reappointment of Coach Kwesi Appiah and he bossed the midfield controlling play, winning and distributing ball with ease.
After an impressive game, the former Villareal midfielder indicated he was impressed with the total out of the team.
“I was very happy with our output, I think we played well and controlled the game, we created more chances just that we could not win,”Wakaso told Metro TV
“It was a good game considering the fact that there are many new players in the team. I hope we can build on this performance.”
The midfielder will now return to club side Deportivo Alaves for the La Liga.
Wakaso joined the Spanish side from Greek side Panathaniakos on a three year deal.
