Sulley Ali Muntari insists Milan “must always target first place” rather than second in Serie A, even though they are 11 points behind Juventus.
The midfielder spoke to Sky Sport Italia today and was asked whether the comeback to snatch second from Napoli would be like a Scudetto.
“No, it’s not like a Scudetto,” he replied.
“We want to win the title if possible, as that is what was in our minds at the start of the season. Things didn’t go that well due to the numerous changes.
“Milan are a club who must always target first place and only first place.”
The Rossoneri are unbeaten in Serie A in 2013, but were humiliated 4-0 by Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday.
“We are very angry, but it can happen in football. Our journey is not over yet. We aren’t in the Champions League anymore, but we have another objective and are putting all our efforts into Serie A now,” he said.
Milan welcome bottom of the table Palermo to San Siro on Sunday afternoon.
