Muntari still hurting over Milan's heavy defeat to Barcelona

Sulley Muntari is still seething over AC Milan’s halted run in the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Barcelona.

The Ghana international gave the Rossoneri a vital cushion with the second goal in the 2-0 win in the first leg of the Round of 16 tie against the Spanish giants.

But a Lionel Messi brace and one each from David Villa and Jordi Alba rendered Milan’s efforts in the first leg useless as they bowed out on a 4-2 aggregate scoreline.

Muntari who did not start the second leg game at the Nou Camp now says things just didn’t work out on the night for the Rossoneri though hopeful of a Champions League place for the club next season.

“The first leg we did great, we were very disciplined on the pitch and we managed to hold them,” he told reporters in Ghana where he is on international duty with the Black Stars for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

“In Camp Nou, everything went wrong and with Barcelona you can’t do that, they will hurt you.

“And that is what they did. It is part of football and we will try our best to gain another Champions League position next year,” he added.
