Ghana winger Ibrahim Sadiq has thanked his AZ Alkmaar teammates for their support during a challenging start to his career at the club.
The 24-year-old faced significant setbacks early in his Dutch league journey, struggling with injuries and a subsequent dip in form. Sadiq was sidelined for over a month due to two injuries in December 2023 and February 2024, leading to a difficult return. Last season, he managed just 16 league appearances and scored only two goals.
However, Sadiq has rebounded impressively this season, already netting four goals and providing three assists in just six matches.
“I will always say "we," because without my teammates, it wouldn't happen,” he said after scoring a brace in AZ Alkmaar’s 2-1 win over PEC Zwolle on Friday.
“I think I will always say "we," because they also helped me a lot when I was not on form, and they always tried to encourage me.
“I think it's really important to have some of the guys with you and everyone around. So, I believe I will say "we," and my teammates helped me a lot to have moments like this.”
