Ghana Football Association presidential candidate, Kurt E.S Okraku says the association under his tenure will take a keen interest in data and research.
According to the Dreams Football Club owner, getting player statistics both at club and national team level for the media and the general public will be very useful.
“As I said in my manifesto, I will establish a data and research department and their task will be to gather data on all football activities, player statistics both at club and national level so that the public will get any
information they need.”
“It will not only be at the national level; it will be universal as all regional levels will have people gathering their data and all this will be at a section of the FA official website.”
Currently there is no proper data about Ghana football, with both the national team and premier league relying on foreign sources for facts and figures.
As we speak there is a raging debate regarding Asamoah Gyan’s claim of being the highest goal-scorer in the history of the Black Stars with 51 goals.
It is also not known which player in the national team or Premier League has the highest number of assists, or the most capped player for Hearts, Kotoko among others.
Meanwhile, football historian who works with the multimedia Group, Bright Yeboah Taylor says legendary Baba Yara scored 49 goals from 51 appearances for the national team.
