'My family asked me to quit Black Stars job'

Black Stars boss Kwesi Appiah has revealed that his family asked him to quit his job two weeks before a crucial World Cup qualifier.

Appiah made history by becoming the first indigenous coach to lead Ghana to the World Cup but speaking to GTV’s Stage Africa, he revealed that achievement would not have come to pass.

“There was a time I was in London to visit the family and around 2 AM, I woke up staring at the ceiling and my wife asked me why I was not sleeping. She got angry when I told her I was thinking about the game and called an emergency family meeting in the morning with my three kids.

She complained to the kids about the situation and they asked me to leave the Black Stars job because I have played all my years with the team and no body even appreciated the job I was doing as black stars coach.”
