Former Ghana international Asamoah Gyan has disclosed that his late mother played netball for the Ghana national team.

In an interview with Nana Ama McBrown on Onua Showtime, Gyan said that he believes he inherited some of his sporting talents from his mother.

The ex-Black Stars striker remarked that his mother was also into sports, a talent she passed on to her offspring.

The Ghana all-time top scorer said, “People don’t know this, but my mother played netball for the national team. So I think we took our competitive nature as siblings from our mother.”

Gyan’s mother passed away in 2012 after serving as the head teacher of JT Cluster of Schools in Mataheko.

She gave birth to four children: Mavis (UK), Baffour, Poku, and Asamoah.
