National Sports Authority(NSA) Boss Prof. Peter Twumasi has revealed that, there was a two day workshop to see the Baba Yara Stadium facilities are well maintained ahead of Asante Kotoko’s Caf Confederation Cup matches.

Ghana Premier League side made it to the Group stage of the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in 11 years after beating Coton Sport 2-1 in Kumasi.

However, upon qualifying to the Group stage, Confederation of African Football(CAF) has authorized the Porcupine Warriors to improve the standard of Baba Yara Sports Stadium where they will honour their home matches.

The letter to the Reds has aroused the National Authority Boss to step up his game to avoid the Reds’ ban from the stadium.

Speaking to Ashh FM in Kumasi, the NSA Boss revealed workshop was held in relation to CAF letter to Kotoko.

"We had a two-day workshop for all the Regional Heads of NSA to see to the maintenance of our facilities in the country,” he said.

"The purpose of our inspection is to see and make sure that the stadium is in good shape and also to see that it meets the required standards of CAF because it's the home grounds for Kotoko in the CAF confederation Cup".

"We have had series of meetings with green grass technology to see to the improvement and betterment of Baba Yara pitch to meet the required standards of FIFA and CAF".

He stated why the NSA are keen in improving the venue to required standard.

"The report from CAF is for us to improve the standard of Baba Yara pitch and we are ready to do just that because the Baba Yara Sports Stadium has been without renovation for about 10-years now so Mr Frank Boahen have started working on the pitch ahead of Kotoko group stage games to meet CAF's standard".

"The dedication of the management, technical team and the playi ng body of Kotoko is really high so NSA is in full support of Kotoko in their African Campaign. It's our prayer that they win the trophy to make Ghana proud", he added.

The Reds will host Nkana FC, Al Hilal and Zesco United in Group C of confederation cup in the coming weeks.
