Nana Agyemang blasts GFA

Astute football coach and commentator, Nana Kwaku Agyemang has slammed the Ghana Football Association for what he says is their fallibility for the Black Stars’ persistent failures but has hailed the decision to maintain helmsman, Kwesi Appiah as national team coach.

Nana Agyemang reckons it’s the GFA who made the mistake of appointing the inexperienced Appiah to the big post in the first place, therefore the coach cannot be blamed for the AFCON failure because he is still learning on the job.

“I don’t want to blame the coach, he is not responsible. He should stay, yes I support the decision to keep him. The problem is with the GFA who appointed him knowing he had no previous training requisite for this position,” Nana Agyemang told 90 MINUTES.

UEFA licensed coach, Agyemang continued: “Kwesi Appiah is learning on the job, that’s what happens because he is now trying everything for the first time and he is making mistakes.

“The only familiar thing is that he made mistakes that qualified coaches also make, that’s all. But it’s not entirely his fault.” He added: “The real problem with the Black Stars and Ghana football is the GFA and its composition.

“The only consistent common factor since the 2006 World Cup has been the existence of the GFA.

“They are the only common factor but there’s nothing anybody can do about it because they have been voted to a mandate.”
