Nana Bema, Opoku win Shai Hills Charity Golf

The pair of Frank Akwasi Opoku and Nana Bema Tackie scored 41 points to win the maiden Shai Hills Chairty Open Golf Championship played at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday.

The second position was taken by Lucas Strauss and his partner, Hans De Beer in the competition which was played in aid of Shai Hills Resource Reserve.

The’’ Longest Drive’’ award in the Men’s category went to Sherlock Jim while Jessica Tei won the Ladies segment.

The one-day event, which was organized by the Celebrity Golf Club, in collaboration with Leadership for Conservation in Africa-Ghana, was sponsored by KEK Insurance Group with support from CAL Bank, Gold Fields Ghana, Allure Spa and Ghana Massage.

Mr Chales Oduro, the Managing Director of KEK Insurance Group said the company aims to support the development and the conservation of the Shai Hills Resource Reserve, since that was the vision of the founder of the company, M r Kofi Essel Koosom, who started the development in the year 2008 but died two years later.

He said the company would continue to support the development of the Shai Hills and called on other corporate bodies to assist.

Frank Akwasi Opoku, Captain of the Celebrity Golf Club also pledged the commitment of his outfit to see to it that the Shai Hills was developed and preserved.
