Nanegbe evicted from the MTN Soccer Academy

The MTN Soccer Academy 7 “Skuulz Challenge” 2, witnessed its first Eviction last Sunday night in a stunning blend of youthful soccer prowess, music and entertainment at the MTN Soccer Academy House at Ridge in Accra.

The fun and excitement was nonetheless, unfortunately a short-lived one for nineteen year old George Nanegbe of the Bishop Herman College and his teeming supporters, as the “Executioner” finally announced the rather sad news of his eviction from the competition.

The news of Nanegbe’s eviction was received with noticeable shock by his enthusiastic supporters who could not lift up their heads anymore, but only bowed in disbelief and disappointment. Nanegbe’s mood and composure was not too different from that of his fans as he in an obvious show of disbelief and regret picked up his school’s flag and made his way to the tunnel, signifying his final departure from the competition. In an exclusive interview, the 5.6ft Winger was however grateful to the Organizers of the Show, Optimum Media Prime and its title sponsor, MTN, for offering him what he described as an “amazing opportunity” to work on his soccer talent. “Right from the day we were inducted into the House, I told myself that whether I am evicted or emerge as the overall winner, I will make the most of this opportunity and come out of the competition a better person”. Nanegbe revealed. Making a general assessment of Nanegbe’s performance over the period, Head Coach of the Soccer Academy, Yaw Preko, revealed that the nineteen year old was a fairly good player. He, however, noted that Nanegbe would need a great deal of tactical discipline and one-on-one coaching to help him develop his skills. “Nanegbe is quite a good player, but needs a lot of coaching to grow the vital qualities that a player needs to make it to the very top of his career”, Coach Preko said.

In a keenly contested five- a-side game between Team MTN and Team OMP, the team mates displayed splendid soccer skills which earned them the applause of the numerous fans and spectators in the stands who were obviously impressed by their performance. The match ended 1-0 in favour of Team OMP. The Eviction night was not without its ever-vibrant side attraction of entertainment, as patrons were treated to thrilling musical performances by two of the country’s Hiplife sensations, Gasmilla and Guru, whose acts further lightened up the night and kept the audience on their feet dancing and singing along to their electrifying tunes. The night also witnessed Wahab Hanan, team mate # 9, of T. I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, emerge as the new Captain for the team.

With the commencement of the Eviction Series, one can imagine that the competition will even get keener and more exciting, as each of the remaining team mates will clearly do all it takes to put up their utmost performance whiles they hope that their fans keep voting massively for them.

The next eviction will come off this Sunday at the MTN Soccer Academy House and will be telecast live on Metro TV.
