Narh promises world title for Ghana

Accra, Jan 17, GNA - Raymond Narh, former National and West Africa Lightweight champion has vowed to secure world titles by the end of the year.

Narh, who is well remembered for the demolition exercise on Smith Odoom, former National and West Africa Super Featherweight champion three years ago, told the GNA Sports in an interview that he is in a fantastic shape after his sojourn in the USA and with the experience he has acquired, he hopes to translate such feats into a world title by the end of the year.

"I think Ghanaians have waited for too long to have a feel of another world title and this I promise to provide them in due course". Narh said.

The Ghanaian boxer who holds the North America Boxing Council (NABC) Lightweight title, said his current status has opened avenues for him to compete for other titles under the IBF, WBC, and WBA among others and this he hopes to capitalise on.

Narh who would be defending his title on February 26 against yet to be named opponent said he is ready for any boxer, adding that he is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the successful defence of his title. He said he would put to sleep any type of opponent that comes his way as his managers finalise arrangements on the fight.

Commenting on his departure from the local scene, Narh stated that he had no regrets leaving the local scene, even though he left behind some unfinished business.

"I regret I could not deal with loud-mouth boxers like Malik Jabir and Abdulai Amidu before leaving the local scene, but anytime I'm invited to face any of them, I will gladly respond and come down to shut them off". Narh said.

He recalled an instance when he was told of an IBF Inter-Continental bout against Amidu, but regretted that the fight had to be called off due to some circumstances.

On his re-location to the USA, Narh described the country as the "university of boxing", saying that "my stay in USA has opened wider avenues for me and has as well helped me to improve upon my skills". The boxer, who is currently on holidays in Ghana, is scheduled leave by the close of January to fine-tune his training for the defence of his title.
