Ghana defender Nathaniel Adjei returned from injury to make a cameo appearance in FC Lorient 2-0 victory over Grenoble Foot 38 in the French Ligue 2 on Saturday.

The versatile defender had been on the treatment table since May.

Adjei’s last appearance for the Merlus was a 3-1 home loss against Olympique Marseille in the penultimate game of the 2022-23 campaign.

Consequently, the 22-year-old missed a significant portion of the team's pre-season training.

Adjei returned to the pitch for the first this season as FC Lorient inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Grenoble Foot 38.

He was introduced into the game with four minutes remaining, but he made an impact with some impressive passing display.

FC Lorient boss Olivier Pantaloni was impressed with the staunch guardsman's cameo appearance.

“I'm delighted to see him on the pitch. He has done a lot of work to be here today, so I'm pleased,” Pantaloni told reporters in the aftermath of the match.

Adjei will be looking to get more minutes in their next encounter against Amiens on Sunday.

He clocked 15 appearances for the Brittany-based outfit last term.
