Nathaniel Asamoah wants to win silverware for Kotoko fans

Asante Kotoko striker Nathaniel Asamoah has told All Sports that nothing will satisfy him more than winning silverware for fans of the Kumasi club because of the unflinching support he continues to receive from them.

Asamoah was once again on target last Sunday as Kotoko beat Berekum Arsenals 2-1 to maintain their stranglehold on second place and current resurgence and momentum. It also meant that the striker improved his goal tally for the season to 11, same as Berekum Chelsea’s Emmanuel Clottey who was also on target as his side beat Hearts of Oak on Match Day 25.

But Asamoah says he is more focused on winning at least the FA Cup which Kotoko play Kpando Heart of Lions in the quarter finals than any individual honours. “I’m just concentrated on playing the league matches and if in the end the PLB count the goals and I am the goalking, very good.

“But my determination is to help Kotoko do well. I’m poised to win the FA Cup for the love of our fans, they are exceptional and I think they deserve it,” Nathaniel Asamoah told All Sports.

The goal poacher was one of about only three home-based players with the Black Stars as they battled England to a 1-1 international friendly draw in London last month. The spot with the national team is one that he is determined to keep, he has confirmed to All Sports his hopes of getting more opportunities to prove his mettle.

Despite endless rumours linking him with several clubs in Europe, Asamoah says he is not in a hurry to join the exodus bandwagon even though like every footballer, he also cherishes the dream to play abroad one day.

“I won’t be in a rush to go abroad but if the opportunity comes and I get a good contract which the Kotoko management approves of, then I can move,” Nathaniel Asamoah stated.
