Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association, Ibrahim Sannie Daara has revealed that the new red Black Stars jersey would replace the teams previous away jersey whiles the previous white home kit would be maintained.
Images of the new red jersey went viral on social media on Monday after a French musician was made to model in it by German kit manufactures, PUMA.
The kit has been designed to reflect the passion, excitement and freedom seen in traditional Ghanaian dance and comes with bespoke identity – a trait typical of PUMA and their partnership with their African nations.
“Every other year the major kit sponsors in the World release new kits, PUMA has released ours and that is what we would be using on Sunday hopefully”, Sannie made the revelations in an interview in Accra.
Football fans have expressed their disapproval over the new red design for the national team but according to Sannie the red jersey would be worn for away matches.
“The white home jersey would be constant, the last time we changed the white and maintained the red one so we are changing the red this time around.”
Ghana would wear their new jersey in their final World Cup Qualifier against the Pharoahs of Egypt at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, November 12.
