New Board Of Directors For Asante Kotoko

Kumasi, (Ashanti Region) 15 Sept.,

The patrons of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club at a meeting at Manhyia Palace at the weekend, appointed a nine-member board of directors to run the affairs of the Club. The meeting among other issues, deliberated on the problems and disputes plaguing the club. A statement issued after the meeting named the members as: Mr. Atta Bimpeh, business executive in Kumasi, Mr. Kwaku Aboagye Agyei, business executive, Accra, Mr. Samuel Owusu of SGS (Societe Generale de Surveillance) Accra, Mr. Owusu Asamoah, business executive, Kumasi, Mr. Nicholas Adu-Gyamfi, Barrister-at-law, Kumasi. The rest are, Mr. Eddie Yaw Sarfo of the Social Security Bank, Accra, Alhaji Baba Camara, business executive, Mr. Olu Luther King, business executive Accra and Nana Opoku Siaw, business executive, Kumasi. The statement said the new board will be inaugurated on September 27, after electing its own chairman in accordance with the constitution of the club. It said the club's congress which was originally scheduled for September 27, will not rpt not take place as announced and that a new date will be announced by the new board.

The statement named Baffour Awuah the fifth, Bantamahene, Nana Agyekum Kusi, Oyokohene and Mr. George Agyekum, Barrister-at-law as a three-man Conciliation Committee tasked to resolve all disputes including court cases which are threatening to destroy the club. It indicated that the committee will meet the representatives of all factions of the club at the Ashanti Region House of Chiefs on September 17. The statement said the patrons have authorised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to hold on to all monies due to the club including transfer fees of Robert Boateng and any other player of the club that may come into its possession until further notice.
