New Edubiase outlines plans for entry into premiership

Accra, Sept. 23, GNA - Newly promoted New Edubiase United has said that they are putting in place the necessary structures to ensure a successful participation in the Premier League.

Abdul Salaam Yakubu, Founder and President of the Club addressing a press conference in Accra on Wednesday in Accra, said the management is in the Premier to stay and will achieve their goal by providing sound and proper management that will push the Club to greater heights. He said the Club has armed itself with the requisite logistics for its smooth running based on modern day management approaches, adding that even though they might face some difficulties, they have the needed human resource to live up to the expectations. Yakubu said the Club plans to establish effective legal and administrative structures, sound financial base, with modern medical facilities all aimed at bringing the best out of the players in the premiership.

He stated that the team will also develop a viable youth policy that will ensure that they have capable reserve players ready to join the main team at any given time adding that youth development will also form the basis of the Club's foundation.

Yakubu said other areas such as marketing, events management, communications and the formation of a well organized supporter's base to motivate the players to deliver are part of their strategic plans. The President said plans are in place to build a mini stadium to enable them to play their home matches at New Edubiase, adding that in the meantime the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi will serve as their home grounds whilst they await the construction of the mini stadium. He said Management has already got the endorsement of the Ashantigold Football Club and the Ashanti Regional Football Association for the use of the facility.

Yakubu added that the decision to use the Len Clay Stadium was due to its proximity to New Edubiase.

According to the President of the newly promoted side, they are in the process of securing the services of some experienced Premier League players to beef up the squad for the 2009/10 Glo Premiership and indicated that the 2010 Top Four Tournament remains their prime target. This, he said will also ensure their successful participation in the premiership and called on the corporate bodies and the people of Edubiase to support them in their quest to survive in the premiership.
