… Executive Member Ebenezer Ofori Quaye aka Akpenator takes over Bombers

The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) has taken a new technical direction with the unofficial appointment of a member of the newly elected executive as the coach.

This follows the removal Coach Ofori Asare from the camp of the Black Bombers.
According to investigations, the new President of the GABF, Gideon Quartey feels Asare has outlived his opportunities as a head coach and during his tenure, the nation has lacked in producing many amateur talents like in the past when the likes of Azumah Nelson, Alfred Kotey, Ike Quartey and others.
Ebenezer Ofori Quaye aka Coach Akpenator who was voted into office as a member of the GABF executive wants to use his experience to deliver the Black Bombers and has already began training with the team that is preparing for the All African Games in September this year.
He is assisted by Lartey Quaye who was assisting Asare for some time and went to the last Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
Ofori Quaye, a Ghana Prisons Service Officer with great affection for sports, especially amateur boxing said he is very happy to be given the mandate by stakeholders in Ghana Amateur Boxing and he has come to serve the nation and hope to bring back the lost glories of Ghana’s Black Bombers who have rules the continent of Africa for many years.
He said there are many undiscovered talents who need motivation to stay in the ring and fight for Ghana.
According to the new Technical Director, many amateur boxers rush into professionalism with the basic knowledge of the sport and tht has caused many professional boxers to rush into international bouts and lose miserably.
He promised to do his best to salvage the image of the nation in sports and make sure Ghana grabs many medals as possible from the Congo Games.
